Why I Use Truemors and Not Digg
Welcome. I write for church leaders on topics like strategy and communication. Since this is your first visit, don't forget to subscribe to my RSS feed.
To clarify before I begin, I’m speaking about using either one as a news feeder, not a place to garner traffic. I know Digg can send tons more traffic than Truemors.
There are a few reasons I prefer Truemors over Digg. Here they are, in list fashion like I love.
- Simplicity. I’m a monster-sized fan of simplicity. It’s why I use Macs, drive a Jeep, and live in a condo. Truemors is simpler due to its easy voting process (no logging in), easy submission process (no logging in), and easy-to-read layout. If you’re new to Digg, it’ll take you a minute or two to find your way around.
- For the most part, it’s not political. There are occasional political news stories on Truemors, which is okay, but too much is too much.
- Did I say simplicity. This time I’m talking about the submissions themselves. You can catch the entire gist of the news piece based on the summary. Most Digg submissions are phrased in a way that necessitates a click-through. I don’t want a feeder that’s going to force me to click away to get the whole story. (I’ll talk more about truncated feed articles in another post.)
- They have a category called “Crap.” This makes it easier to stay away (or go directly to) the stupid stuff that normally clutters up Digg’s front page. This feature alone makes it worth my time.
- It runs on Wordpress. I love Wordpress. It’s powerful, sleek, flexible, and altogether lovely. (Shameless plug: My company, Updatable, offers Wordpress design and installation services if you’re looking to get more serious about blogging.)
If you haven’t used Truemors, I recommend that you try it. It’s worth your time, I promise. Plus, anything that was created by a former Apple evangelist and Apple Fellow must be worth trying.

I like Digg much better.
Two things I would like to point out.
1. Digg is a lot more famous.
2. I found this story on Digg.
But, thanks I never heard of Truemores before this article.

@Karn - LOL. Like I said, Digg wins, hands down, in traffic.
I haven’t gotten into the whole Digg thing yet but if I were to go down that road I would have to give Truemors some serious consideration, if for no other reason than because Guy Kawasaki is behind it!
Thanks for these helpful, concise posts the last couple of days.
