Latest & Greatest Update

Welcome. I write for church leaders on topics like strategy and communication. Since this is your first visit, don't forget to subscribe to my RSS feed.

me and williamHere’s a quick-list of some of latest and greatest in my life in the past couple weeks. They’re random, but this post isn’t a top ten list or a how-to article anyway, so I feel like it’s okay to be random today.

  • Erica and I bought a new camera yesterday. It’s a Canon Powershot G9. We did a bunch of research, talked to slews of people who know something about cameras, and finally made the plunge. Check out this video review on CNET.
  • I’m going to be upgrading to the new Wordpress 2.5 today. I watched the screencast that Matt published this week and was sold on the upgrade. Looking forward to it, but not looking forward to bugs. We’ll see how it works out.
  • I’ve been playing the acoustic guitar for almost 7 years now. So, a couple weeks ago I figured it was time to start learning the electric guitar, specifically the lead guitar. Lee McDerment’s new album inspired this decision.
  • My niece pushed my dog off the third level of a jungle gym last weekend before Easter. If you know how much I love my dog, you can understand how upset I was. He whimpered a little, limped for a couple days, and is now leaping through the bushed like his old self again.
  • Just started using Bloglines Beta today and loving it already. I’ve yet to explore the added features, but the interface is much prettier. I’d been waiting for a good review, but decided to make the jump and do the review myself in a couple days.
  • Finally, I reactivated my Virb account this week. You should check it out, sign up, and send me a link so we can be friends. I’ve been slowly getting tired of Facebook and the endless invitations to groups, events, and games. Poking got old the minute it started. And Apple sends me more messages than anyone else. Don’t they know I’m not a student anymore?! Stop teasing me with student discount reminders that I can’t use!

There’s plenty of other new things going on, but those are the biggest deals lately. By-the-way, that image is me and my dog once he started feeling better yesterday. And the photo was taken with our new camera.

I’ll be curious to see what you think of Wordpress 2.5. I’m going to wait just a bit longer to let other braver souls work out the bugs. :-)

I just switched to Bloglines Beta today as well. Great interface but I’m finding that the feeds aren’t updating quite as quick…not sure if that’s Bloglines or crappy Feedburner RSS feeds…

I’m with you on the Facebook thing. It was cool for the first couple of months but now I absolutely detest Facebook. If I get one more invitation for a cupcake fight or arm wrestling challenge I swear I’ll…

I’ll shoot up a quick review of Wordpress 2.5 with the review of Bloglines Beta next week.
